Products I Love

Here is a short list (for now) of my favorite photo products:

  • Really Right Stuff Heads and Plates – If you are serious about rock solid support. RRS heads and plates are as good as it gets. Another company I have great admiration for is Kirk Enterprises, they are RRS competitors and are slightly less expensive. I’ve owned both, I prefer RRS. RRS ballheads have lower profile, and double drop notches. I know quite a few professional who swear by Kirk. For more details please read great article by Thom Hogan here.
  • Gitzo Carbon Fiber Tripods – great tripods, amazing support. Pick the right one and it will serve you for the rest of your life!!! (Note: I’m a victim of advertisement again, as soon as I said the last 6 words of the previous sentence, I thought about Sleepys.) For more details please read great article by Thom Hogan here.
  • Nikon GPS Unit GP-1 – Engenious little gadget. Simply invaluable for travel photographer, especially if that photographer has a lot on his mind. The geotags allow you to pin point and re-create your track on the Map, as well as organize images based on location.
  • Westcott 42″ 6-In-1 Reflector Kit – Great 42″ square reflector.
  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 – Lightroom help you manage, edit, and develop your images. It’s an invaluable tool.
  • Transcend 400X 32 GB Compact Flash Card – this memory card is the best value I’ve seen to date. The card’s capacity is big enough for 4-5 days, the performance is top of the notch (at least in Nikon D300), and the price is just over $100. For more information on choosing the right memory card, see my Choosing the right memory card for your camera article.
